Training sessions are held on Tuesday
evenings in the Greenside Community Centre,
Nr. Ryton, during the winter months
(Sept-May)

Classes & Training Times

The club has now integrated the Good Citizens Dog Scheme into its Training sessions which all Members who train their dogs at the club may take part in.

The object is to ensure your Shepherd is a well behaved PET DOG in the company of canines/other animals and us homosapiens!

The exercises include things like walking properly on the lead, grooming, Vet inspections, temperament etc., - basic standards which I'm sure we would all want for our dogs.

The latest recipients of the Good Citizen Puppy Foundation Certificate are:

Dawn Dobinson & Codie
Agnes Marshall & Sunny
Kevin Dent &
Margaret Shepherd & Sheena
Janice Mearns & Axel
Steve Henry & Rhebus
Monica Gebka & Rocky
Alan Armstrong & Milly

The Trainers

The club is very fortunate to benefit from an experienced team of trainers who have been handling, stewarding and judging obedience and trials events as well as competing at shows all around the country. The team line up is.....

Anne Adamthwaite:
Anne has been a G.S.D owner for 28 years now. She is a certified temperament assessor of dogs for Pets as Therapy, is an area coordinator for the charity and has one G.S.D P.A.T. Dog, Skye. She is also on the Kennel Club recommended assessor list for Bronze Silver and Gold Good Citizen assessments. Anne also regularly competes in obedience competitions.

Due to their having other committments, we have had to say goodbye to our other two regular trainers, Brian and Linda Whales. For several years both Brian and Linda have given up much of their spare time to help train owners and dogs at the club and this has been greatly appreciated by all members. We would all like to thank them and wish them well for the future.
It is anticipated that we will be able to have various guest trainers in the future.

Advisors:
As well as our experienced obedience trainers who between them have over 80 years of shepherd owning experience, our membership includes several, well respected breeders and show judges, including championship show judges, so we are, within the Club, able to advise on all aspects of owning and living with the German Shepherd not just the training aspect.
